Help here!

Hi guys,
I am a fourth year in CC and applied for 2016 spring. I do not want to be too optimistic, so I need second opinions. My start at college was not really good and gpa is about 3.25 and Would it be possible to transfer to top 20 engineering schools after getting into CSU junior by raising gpa? If so, what should I do in terms of GPA, class credit, extracurricular? I really do not feel good about going in to CSU. Please help me. What is the best thing I should do?

My options are

  1. Attend CSU and get the best term gpa, and apply for the Fall
  2. Start over from new CCC

You can’t start over at a new CCC. You have to send all of your transcripts, so your old grades will still show up.

Why do you think you need to graduate from a top 20 engineering school? Provided your program is accredited by ABET it will be essentially the same wherever you study, and your paycheck will be exactly the same when you get hired for an engineering job.

Meet with the Transfer Advisor at your current CC, and get help with those transfer applications. Go wherever you are admitted and can afford. If you still want a top 20 experience some day, then go to that kind of place for grad school.

Wow, four years… at this point, my advice would be just do what you can to graduate. I absolutely agree with @happymomof1 try for a top 20 in grad school instead. Why worry about it now and delay your progress instead of getting out there in the real world and actually start working? It may look bad to a top 20 for undergrad anyway if you take too long before transferring. They want you to be capable of staying motivated and on track and graduate on time or it looks bad for their stats.
