Hey, I’m taking the act for the first time on saturday and haven’t studied too much…so i dunno how i’ll do. So…I’ve been told it’s ok not to let your high school know your scores. Do I do this by:

Changing my high school online to “I can’t find my high school”

Not marking my high school informaiton in on the day of the test?

And lastly…does doing this make my scores look bad to college?

As far as I recall you can't change your information on line at this time. You can call ACT by noon (I think but check it) the thursday after the ACT to make changes. You can remove colleges this way and I would imagine you can remove your high school also. This may have changed since when my daughter was taking it.

Colleges will not care. If you find you have scored better than expected you can pay to have the results sent to the colleges you want to see them. If you do not they will never see them.

dvm - many schools put the scores on your transcript and the OP does not want this.

Did you put down any colleges to send your scores to? If you did you might still be able to change it. If not they won't know about your score unless you tell them.

You might end up doing better on the ACT than you expected. While studying is helpful, it's not needed to do well.

I did not put down any colleges. And I think I might do well...I scored above 28 on all sections but one when I took a practice test to assess myself. I'm just worried I'll do bad on the other section again.

To clear things up...i just don't really want this test to be on my score sheet that comes with the transcript. (And don't yell at me!!! The "Crash Course for the ACT" told me not to send my scores to my high school...I just dunno how not to send them (where your help comes into play).

If you don't want the ACT on your transcript, tell your HS to remove it. It's your record and when it comes to optional testing (which the ACT and SAT are, despite the fact you should take them), you should be able to tell your HS to remove the score.

I think you're overreacting. Take a deep breathe. Just because you don't do something a book suggests won't kill your college chances.
