Help! How many chance do I have to get into UC and CSU schools?

Hi! I am a high school senior and planning to apply to UCs and CSUs school in the upcoming November. I want to major in material engineering or chemical engineering, and I am wondering whether I have chance to get into UCI, UCR, UCLA, Cal Poly Pomona (chemical engineering) and Cal Poly Slo?? Here are some of my information:
UC/CSU GPA: 3.86
GPA (Accumulative): 3.48 weighted (Since I studied in Hong Kong during Freshman and Sophomore year, the different system of grading causes my low accumulative GPA. Though I know I should not have any excuses for that.)
SAT I: CR: 450 Math : 760 WR: 580 (planning to take it again in the upcoming December )
SAT II: Math2 800 Physics 800
AP: Ap Phy 1 (5), AP Cal AB (5)
Ethnic: Asian
EC: President of school Science Club in Hong Kong for 2 years. Handball team member.
Award: an international gold science medal, an international 4th science medal, many different regional science awards
Volunteering: Public Library HW help
Thank you so much.

I am an in-state applicant and have already completed A-G requirements.

I think it would be difficult for you to get into some of those schools (mostly UCLA) due to your GPA and SAT I, especially since UC’s care about stats a lot. Also, engineering in general is a very difficult major, and assuming you are Asian, your race is not going to help. (emphasis on engineering major = very hard)
Your awards seem important though, but it depends on how recognized the competition was.
I think you should explain your GPA in the optional 3rd essay though, so they also understand why your GPA is a 3.48

However, keep in mind that I’m simply another student and I have not talked to any admissions officer or anything.
I wish you luck though!!

What do you think about UCI??? UCI is the school where I want to go.

You will need to recalculate your UC/CSU GPA for Cal Poly SLO since they use 9-11th a-g courses.

Based on posted Stats:
Cal Poly Pomona/UCR: Match
UCI: Low Reach
UCLA/SLO: Reach

You really need to bump up your CR score on the SAT. Your UC GPA is below average for UCI/UCLA/SLO especially for a competitive major as Chemical Engineering. You need 1 good safety school and 1-2 more Match schools on your list. Consider Cal State Long Beach and San Jose State.

Good Luck.

I heard that Cal Poly Pomona has a decent reputation for engineering and primarily for job. However, I want to go to graduate school. Should I suppose to go to UC schools? Do low-tier UC school really affects my future career, or should I go to CC then trasnsfer as an engineering major?

Your undergrad is much less important than your grad school. As long as you have good grades at any of the colleges that have been mentioned, you’ll be good for grad school. My mom actually went to Cal Poly Pomona and then got into UCLA for grad school.

Also, transferring as an engineering major is extremely difficult I think…

Pomona is a good school, especially for science and engineering. You’ve got a sold shot there. Take a look at SDSU, CSULB and maybe UCR.
