The deadline is 4 days so Hurry!
How much would it cost for me to go to UofT vs McGill?
I have a 3.6GPA, Canadian Citizen, 1550/2260 SAT, Top 5% rank in a Massachusetts public school that isn't super competitive

My parents make probably around 90k US dollars a year. When my mom starts working it will rise higher, but I'm not sure that matters.
I'm going to be applying for some scholarships. Does Toronto have any making it comparable to Mcgill in cost?

My parents want me to apply to McGill because of it's overall rank and lower tuition. Can you convince them so that I don't have to apply? Is there evidence? If I get accepted by McGill I'd probably have to go. UofT seems like a much better fit though. Help! I have no one else to turn to, my guidance counselor knows nothing about Canadian schools.

If I get accepted by McGill I'd probably have to go. I'm applying for computer engineering, and yes I have checked their websites, but I'll check again. Ut is 20k Mcgill is 5k for 30 credits every year.

"The University of Toronto Scholars Program

The University of Toronto Scholars Program provides recognition to the University's outstanding students, at admission and on an on-going basis. There are 150 admission awards which have a value of $5,000 and may be held in conjunction with any admission awards that students may receive from their college/faculty. Outstanding students are considered automatically for these awards.

For information on the in-course component of this program please refer to our in-course scholarships page."

I'm not outstanding enough am I? Is outstanding only academically oustanding?

"Why an OOS public as opposed to schools much more likely to give you merit aid?"

Partly for international Prestige on my parents part. Umass Amherst and BU are very high on my list.

Partly because my best Friend goes to Toronto, I'm asian, and I've been there. I don't speak French like McGillians or like the Las Vegas Style of Montreal.

Partly Because I'm Canadian and UT costs less.

Would it be possible to apply to both and then make a decision based on acceptances and cost after you have more information and are accepted?

If you apply to UT and not McGill, and do not get into UT, then what are your other options?

I say, apply to both and then if you are accepted to both, compare aid packages. Even if UT does wind up costing more, that does not necessarily mean you will not be able to attend.

Toronto

you said in your original post that you think UoT is a better fit.. can't you try to convince your parents of that?
my parents are making me apply to 3 canadian schools even though I have not the slightest desire to go -.- mcgil, u of t and u of british columbia... their acceptance rates are incredibly high compared to the US colleges of similar calibers.
also, I remember your name from somewhere. was it the MIT blogs?

yes I frequent the MIT blogs, and I'll be applying to the three you listed as well. To many prestige>>fit to others money>>fit My parents believe both (damn u us news). I'll try
