So for this summer, I thought I wasn't going to have an internship but now I do. 2.

What happened was I (graphic design major) applied for several companies and design studios , and I got an internship from this small design studio. I thought I was going to intern here for this summer - till I got an interview from this fashion magazine. I won't tell the name but it is pretty big in fashion industry / art scene, and just in the field where I want to work in future. I knew I had to choose just one, but I don't know why - I decided to work at both places.

So the internship for the small design studio : all day, unpaid, I'm just working for 1 day. First day when I went there was this week, and I felt so.. not productive at all! they just let you sit there and make you feel like zombie or something. Well, it was easy, but I almost fall asleep and I wasn't that tired that day. They have 2 interns coming in for other 2 days I think.

On the other hand, the Magazine : 4 days, unpaid, haven't start yet, but the workload will be heavy (I'm working there for like 9 hours) - but at the same time, I think I would just learn from working rather than just sitting and do nothing at the other place.

Now I feel like I should quit the internship at the small design studio, because I need that 1 day of rest I think, or I think I would rather do part-time job on that day. But I don't know how to.

I know it is rude to tell my boss through e-mail, and we didn't have any type of conflicts at all (we barely talked..), but is it really that rude by quitting through e-mail / phone? I don't know. maybe it will save me from babbling or saying random things or causing more dramas.

So how should I quit my internship? Is it okay to just e-mail or call? and what should I say for the reason? I was thinking about just saying the schedule isn't working out or I got a paid job, but.. what do you think it's better (without making them angry)?

Also my another main concern is that them contacting my school. The internship is not for college credit though. Would they get mad from me quitting there and call my school? I know it sounds a bit far, but I do not want that to happen.
