help! how to show academic renewal when applying to UC's?

I want to transfer from a california community college to a UC or CSU.

From what I've read online, UC's and CSU's both accept academic renewal/forgiveness (i received it for 2 of my classes) in terms of calculating gpa, but is there a way to express this on the application come October?

Because from what I understand, they don't receive your transcripts until later after you're accepted (which is where it would show that you received academic renewal), while on the application you would just put the grade you received. Is there an additional option to note on the application that you received academic renewal for a certain grade (and so thus they can calculate your gpa with that in mind and use it for admissions consideration)? Or do they only see that once you are accepted and they receive your transcript? :(

I also have the same question for CSU applications? Thank you!

I believe there is an “AR” option on the application.

thank you!

would you put the grade AND ar, or just AR (although they’d obviously assume it was a D or an F in that case anyway)

I’m pretty sure there’s only one space, so you would just select “AR”.

It is just “AR”. They will see your original grade when you send in your CC transcripts (though those will have an “AR” notation on them as well).

Just AR. But UCLA requested for me to send my transcript for that school sometime in February to I suppose confirm it. None of the other campuses did so I guess some just wait til after you’re admitted.

I had to send in a transcript to confirm it as well. I had 5 days to scan and upload it to a link they e-mailed to me, but I think applicants are randomly chosen to be kind of ‘audited’ lol.
