Help! I accidentally sent My bad SAT scores to Vanderbilt and Johns Hopkins even though I am applying test optional, will they still look at and judge my application on my SAT score?

How did that happen? But I do think that once you’ve sent them, you’ve sent them. There is no way to keep the from looking at them, now that they’re in the file. How bad were they?

Yes, someone at the school will likely see the test scores. Don’t know if that will be your AO though, I expect schools are handling theses situations differently.

You could send an email to your AO saying you sent the official scores, but reiterate you are applying test optional. The possible downside of that is calling attention to the situation that may have been a non-issue for the AO.

FWIW certainly other students sent official scores, whether via the free sends or by paying, and ultimately applied TO.

Good luck to you in the admissions process.

Youcan email and ask them to disregard the scores. But, you might be drawing attention to a non-problem.

Those schools are extremely selective. What will be will be. Make sure you have applied to a range of schools.

Thank you for all the responses, I sent them before I applied so would that mean that the scores would impact me less? It was also a 1390 SAT score

It’s all part of your file and they will see the scores. You just have to let the process play out.

To make you feel a little better, understand that tons of kids won’t submit any scores at all. Tons of kids were able to take just one test and didn’t imagine they would not get a chance to test again. MUCH of this application cycle is out of your control. You can’t fixate on this.

I just talked to an admissions counsellor and they said as long as I keep my app test optional they won’t look at my official score report
