Because my parents were on vacation during the new year, I got my friend to pay for my application. Thing is, for UChicago, payment was after clicking the "Submit Application" button, so once she had paid I assumed that it was an all-in-one thing, that the application would be submitted as well with the payment.

Turns out that there was an extra step of clicking something else to submit after payment (i didn't see the screen so I don't know what it looked like), and I didn't discover that I hadn't submitted it until Jan 04, 2 days after the deadline, when I returned to print out a copy of my app for filing.

what should I do? Is my Uchicago app doomed? I emailed the counselor but sheh asn't given me a reply.

The one thing we are not lenient about is actually getting the application, the part with your personal information and essays. That should have been submitted last night. Or, you should have made your best effort to submit it (see below.)

i thought the blogger first said that it was okay if the timestamp was january 3? why does he/she say now that "it should have been submitted last night"?

Yeah; what they mean is, they don't want you still working on the meat of the application after the deadline. A lot of people missed that second submit button; they're okay with it.

Well, I don't know how the admissions office handles delays, but it would be best if you could send them an email stating the reason for the delay.

They took your money- they should give you your goods.

If they reject you because you turned it in late, why do they still have the site running and WILLING to take your money? They don't sell movie tickets to yesterday's movies- if they did- I'd demand a refund.
