Basically, i was debating between two schools for the last month or so. I deposited to one school about two weeks ago thinking that it was right for me, but I realized recently that I really want to go to the other. I know it's past may 1st, but it's only may 10th, so is there any way I can change this? I don't want this wrong decision to influence my life the way it will.

Make lots of phone calls. It will be ok

Sure it’s not just a short-term case of buyer’s remorse?

If you have been “deciding,” between these final two schools for over a month then you should be fine at either. If the other school has given your spot away, don’t look back and embrace your original choice. Don’t feel as though your life will be ruined if you don’t get to switch as how can the one you chose to deposit to be that much of a mistake?

Why did you ultimately choose the school you did? And, why are you now prefering the other school?

What are the pros and cons for each school?

I chose against a school because of their grade deflation and low average gpa. That kind of seems foolish to me now and I have regrets

Check to see if their waitlist is still open. That means they still have room. Even if it is closed there are sometimes students who change their minds and don’t come or can’t come for some reason. It is called “summer melt.” You have a gild chance unless they have some policy against it. Tell them they were your first choice but became intimidated and realize that the education you receive and the right fit is more important than having the highest possible GPA. Ask them if they would have mercy on and you and allow you to still come. Remember that any scholarship funds may have been reassigned. But there are alternatives so go for it. Don’t decline at the other school until you get another acceoatance and financial aid letters from the first one.
