Haha yea I feel this way too. Humans are animals. It's a good thing.

I agree with BigG because a lot of people don't provide sympathy for those they don't know and it's understandable.
I don't provide much empathy myself when it comes to those commercials, but having done mission trips, I've seen it firsthand and it has made me realize the hardships people are experiencing without anyone having any knowledge.
Meeting the homeless on the streets of Toronto and talking with them, providing them with sandwiches seemed like no big deal but to them it means a lot because out of everyone they've walked past for months at a time and to just talk to someone for 5 mintues who treats them like an actual human brightens their day. I was able to have the satisfaction of helping out strangers, one meal at a time. you don't really know what's out there until you see it for yourself.

It is essentially abnormal to care about people you don't know or aren't related to. A person who identifies with the pain and suffering of people they do not know would be in constant pain themselves. That sounds undesirable to me. Personally, I don't view life as having any intrinsic value, and I don't view death as a bad thing. We were born to die.

Nailed it. We are not living, we are dying.

I second Duper.

you're not a nazi, you're a pragmatist, and it's not necessarily bad as long as you still have a moral compass and such.
