I really want to be a general physician; however, I don't know what to major in for my pre-med. My parents suggest that I take something that I can get a job in, such as med/lab tech. Then, they suggested pharmacy, but pharmacy takes almost as long as medical school! So, I'm not sure whether to become a med/lab tech major or just do pre-pharmacy. HELP!
FYI - I'm a senior in high school :)

Just concentrate on deciding on which college to attend next year, don’t worry about your major so much.

The first year of college is largely spent taking general education/pre-req classes. You have some time to decide which major/tract you want to take.

If you’re undecided on which college to attend, you might focus on attending a larger school that has many different programs.

Go in as undecided, take different classes, and then you may be able to see what you like.

Well it’s good to respect your parents’ suggestions because they are older than you are. But they can be wrong. Work hard and get into a good college (somewhere you really want to be in. Then take some classes and see where you want to go with.

Being a pharmacist and a general physician are two different subjects. In the end you have to make the choice, and NOT your parents.

Job? I am not so worried about the job outlook at this point. I am serious. There is time when a field becomes overpopulated, or when the economy declines. Just work hard.

If you have spare time, just surf on the web to find out more about medical school and medical study. Hang out here on CC. Ask questions. I am sure people who know the stuff will share their knowledge at their best with you, if you ask them politely.

You might also want to look into other options, too.
