I am a senior at a high school in Florida. I knew by November 28 that I was accepted into Florida State University! I was SO ecstatic, because FSU is essentially my dream school. I also got into UCF and USF, but I don't particularly care for those schools and I am so incredibly excited to attend FSU in the fall.

I had read the conditions of acceptance in my FSU admissions packet, clearly stating that any downward trend in senior year grades, any grade below a c, or change in senior year academic coursework could result in my acceptance being rescinded.

However, yes, it happened. I just returned from winter break and found that I recieved a D in my first semester, in Economics Honors. It would be the only D in my whole high school career, and Economics Honors is a semester course, not a year long course.

I am also taking AP English Literature, AP Statistics, and AP Environmental Science and I did very well in all of those classes this semester.

I know it is an age-old question, and I know that I am no exception to the rules, but will someone who is familiar with FSU policies tell me if I am in danger of having my acceptance rescinded?? It would absolutely devestate me. I do plan to work extremely hard in my second semester of senior year.

Also, is it possible to simply contact FSU's admissions office and ask to write an explanation or anything?

PLEASE HELP! I NEED TO GO TO FSU!!!

I'm in the same boat.

I'm struggling to keep a C in one of my AP classes.

sorry I'm not of much help : /

I'm pretty sure they'll ask you to write a letter to them explaining why you got a D.Just write why and explain how you improved the next semester.

I hope they will not rescind your admission for one bad grade but I also wonder if you can retake the semester course to improve your grade and wipe out the "D" if necessary. If you are unable to take it at your high school, perhaps you can take it at FLVS. I am sure FSU has seen other students with senioritis that did not keep up their usual level of work in their last year of high school. Good luck with finishing your senior year strong.

What are your overall stats - GPA, SAT and/or ACT? Were you accepted into Summer or Fall semester?

If you are strong in the other areas it would likely not hurt too much.

I got a C in Calc these 9 weeks... I hope they don't rescine my acceptance!

If you get a D in an AP class (and have never gotten a D before) will they rescind it? I'm worried about my art history! :/

Well, I have a 3.6 with an 1160, which are nowhere near impressive, but I do have to say that my extracurriculars are very strong.

I am still kind of worried, so much so that I called FSU's admissions office today to ask them about my situation! One of the representatives basically told me I would be fine! Although I am so truly happy to hear that, I will still work extremely hard this semester.

He even assured me that it is very uncommon for a student's acceptance to FSU be rescinded because of just one D on one senior year semester.
I'm so relieved!!

Don't freak out yet. It was first semester. Just try to bring the grade up by second semester and you'll have absolutely nothing to worry about. Plus if you've never gotten anything else below a C, it will show on your final cumulative GPA, so no problem.

Plus, if your studying works really well, then you'll know your stuff for the AP tests and get extra credits when your enter as a freshman, which is always helpful and nice because you have less work later and get more fun classes.
