HELP I HAVE 3 Cs!!

I’m a senior in HS and I have three Cs but my other grades are 2 Bs and 1 A. I have been accepted into two colleges already but will these grades affect my chances of getting into San Jose State University?

If your grades were reported on your application, then yes, it will hurt. If you submitted your application before these grades were available, then they will not be considered for admissions. That’s the case for most California students.

If you do get accepted, the question is whether three Cs would be enough to get your acceptance rescinded. I’m thinking that since SJSU is so competitive, you’d have to have a pretty good GPA to get accepted in the first place. If that’s the case, then the Cs would probably not be enough to drop you below any CSU set cutoff. Check the CSU and SJSU websites to be sure though.

No I didn’t put those C’s in my application. They are my current grades as of right now. if I get two of those C’s up, is there a higher chance of getting in?(if you know) Also what do you mean they wont be considered for admissions? Thanks

I think Otterma misunderstood something…Or I misunderstood yours.

Tell me if I’m wrong:

So OP applied EA/ED and got accepted to the “two colleges,” one of which is San Jose State University. And OP is asking if getting 3 Cs may rescind him of the admission offer when the college notices those marks on the OP’s final transcript.

If that is the case, then I would say it depends on the case, but more likely not. If those 3 Cs are the courses pertaining to your prospective major, then it may surely hurt you. However, if it is not really related to your major, then it won’t hurt you as much. Also, if you got into SJSU with a similar grade/GPA (like, 2 Cs when applied), then it won’t affect as much. Mostly, colleges won’t rescind the offer if you have above C, from what I heard, unless the school is super-competitive, which SJSU doesn’t really look so.

But don’t let your guard down or continue getting Cs. Try to perform better to lower the chances of getting rescinded as possible.

I do apologize if I was misleading. I have not been admitted to SJSU. I have been only admitted into CSU East Bay and SFSU. Will semester 1 grade reports affect my chances of getting in?

I assume you applied Regular Decision to SJSU?

Well, if that’s the case, then unfortunately it may hurt your chances. But it is definitely not to the extent that you are guaranteed to be denied. I do not know enough about you to give you complete feedback, but if your ECs could offset this, then it must help you. Also, if those Cs were from your major-related courses, then it may hurt you a bit more.

I did RD for SJSU. My C’s are in English, French and Trigonometry.I plan to major in Digital Media.

Yes, institutions of higher education tend to look down on decreased performance. Pull your grades up!

Note in particular

In short: your grades from senior year are not used when deciding whether or not to admit you.

Must be a good news to you!

But don’t be too happy about it since they do check final transcript.

As stated above, your Senior grades are not considered in the CSU admission decisions, but maintaining your GPA and doing well will keep your provisional admission. For the CSU’s, you need a C or higher in all a-g courses Senior year with no D’s or F’s. I would still strive to finish your Senior strong academically.
