Help!! I missed my interview!!

I scheduled my Columbia interview for midterm week, the night before I had two midterms, because I wasn’t exactly thinking clearly at that time. I remembered about it all through the weekend, remembered about it monday, but I guess with all the midterm stress and stuff I completely forgot about it until 9:00pm today. And it was supposed to be at 5:15. Am I completely screwed now?? What should I say when I call tomorow??

I had midterms and I forgot. He's probably already ****ed, so there's nothing you can say to assuage him. BTW, you probably should have called the moment you remembered.

I figured his office was closed by that time.

Call, apologize profusely and reschedule. I know an absentminded person who missed an interview for a major fellowship. The program even had bought him a plane ticket which he forgot to use. He apologized, rescheduled, and got the fellowship.

I strongly suggest that you also send a thank-you note for the inteview along with another apology.

Man, how can you forget it? Didn't your parents know about it and remind you?

DD wanted to jump at her first chance for Brown interview, but realized that it was during semester finals. Asking to wait 2 weeks until finals were over was a great move, but required her to let go of the instant gratification. I guess you'd better call right away. I think a straight story is always best. "I mistakenly tried to juggle the interview with semester finals", and honest apology is the way I'd advise.

Northstarmom is spot on. Profusely apologize and tell the truth. If you make up an excuse, the interviewer will know it. Ask to have the interview rescheduled. Then get ready to thank profusely, but not subserviently.

Just a thought: You may gain some valuable information about the school by how they treat your memory lapse.

It has nothing to do with the school, but rather the temper of the alumni interviewer :)
