I scheduled my Columbia interview for midterm week, the night before I had two midterms, because I wasn't exactly thinking clearly at that time. I remembered about it all through the weekend, remembered about it monday, but I guess with all the midterm stress and stuff I completely forgot about it until 9:00pm today. And it was supposed to be at 5:15. Am I completely screwed now?? What should I say when I call tomorow??

Well, people are probably going to get mad at me for saying this, but come up with a more reasonable excuse. Not just "oh I had too much work- sorry, I forgot." That just makes you sound disorganized and lazy. Think of something better. Good luck! ;)

State a family emergency and apologize for not calling him/her quick enough.

Good Luck!

*turns his back on integrity and hides in a corner.

LOL delfire... I see we are in agreement. Devious minds think alike. ;)

cough* call and tell them you were really sick or family emergency *cough

The problem is that he's gonna be like "Why couldn't you call me and tell me that oyu couldn't make it before the next day??" We all have cell phones nowadays.

I almost think you should fess up--he'd probably see right through your lie (after all, he did graduate from Columbia), and he might just appreciate your integrity. Think long and hard before you decided to lie.

Last year, I missed my Columbia interview because of an unexpected funeral, a true family emergency. I told my interviewer, and she appeared very understanding, but I never got a chance at an interview. It never even occured to me that a funeral would be a common excuse, but I can't help but wonder if the lack of interview was the reason I was waitlisted and ultimately rejected. If you absolutely think it will make a difference, I'd say go ahead and lie, but if you think you'll be able to reschedule the interview, I'd tell the truth, and just have a REALLY amazing interview. Then she'll forget all about your previous absence. Good luck to you.

I told the truth and the guy was really nice about it. I ended up having a great interview and now I'm even more in love with the school.

Good For You, Dressagechick!

Nothing Like A Good Rush Of Integrity.

*comes back from the corner and a quick LoL @ Calidan.

that was a wise choice.
