or any other good college

I don’t know what to do, my GPA is terrible. I am taking 6 AP classes for senior year 1 PE and one pre-ap. I have been getting all A’s but I don’t know if that will raise my GPA at all, colleges will only be able to see up till my senior year 1st semester. Will getting A’s in my AP classes (5 AP), 1 Pre Ap and 1 PE class raise my gpa if only the first semester of senior year is counted towards my GPA? Does telling colleges about my circumstances (family problems) change their views on my gpa at all? What are the chances I will even get into an engineering college? Is there any hope for me at all?

Have your counselor explain your family circumstance on her recco letter. Columbia NW, and Hopkins will be reaches because of the ACT. 32 is a great score, but low for those schools.
Maybe add Drexel, Bucknell, Case Western, Penn State, Syracuse to the list

What is your home state? You would not get financial aid from UT Austin or Georgia Tech if you are out of state. Your GPA and test scores are low for all the schools on your list. Even as a URM, I think a lot of them are out of reach. Run the net price calculator on the NYU website to see what you would have to pay, need based aid doesn’t always come in from them at the level you may need.

The good news is that there are tons more engineering colleges besides these, and as long as they are ABET accredited, you will get a solid, useful engineering degree.

You can ask your GC to address your dad’s health issue as a factor in your grades in their recommendation.

Just Google “biomedical engineering colleges”, and you can find a list of accredited schools. Then cross reference that with Googling “colleges that meet need”. To figure out if a college is in range for you, you can Google the Common Data Set for the college, and check test score ranges. Google is your friend in this process.

I live in Texas. So do you think I would even be able to get accepted into UT? Is it a reach school? If I don’t get in I think I will transfer.

In April 2014 you were a female Asian. Now you’re hispanic. Curious
