Hello, I am a senior and I need some serious tips on how to ace AP Lit. (AP English 4)

As of now I am failing. This is totally new to me. School has always come relatively easy and I've always made A's.
My teacher is now but grades realllllllly hard. She gave the whole class 50s on annotations on an essay unless we wrote out a whole page of criticism/ thoughts. Maybe this is how your English teacher is. But I've never been in this kind of an environment. She also started us off on Chaucer's Canterbury tales on Monday and gave us a quiz today. I am willing to work hard but need help/tips on how to manage such heavy reading, especially when I am in 4 other APs. Please leave any tips you have or advice. Also: I heard some seniors telling me that they always stayed up till 1 Am. Please let me know if this is the norm, If it is, I will adjust.

-Thanks
