Help! i need to know my chances for MIT

Hello everyone!

I know this sounds really nerdy but ever since i knew what the word "university" meant i knew i wanted to go to MIT. I have always been an odd-ball, not quite fitting in with the rest of the crowd. Sure, I have lots of friends, and I'm far from being what is considered a 'social outcast' but i never really feel as if i belong with these people, and in school I've always felt I was never achieving my true potential. When I learned that MIT was filled with people probably just like me, it has been my lifelong aim (up until know) to go there. Every test, every quiz, every extracurricular has been for the sole purpose of getting into MIT.

I am one of the most "international" students you will ever encounter, which is the reason for my wide range of exams. My parents are both lebanese, I was born in Canada (and have citizenship), I have residency in the US, and I currently attend school in France. I speak 3 languages: English (1st language), Arabic (fluent but only semi-literate), and French(fully literate but less fluent than Arabic)

Currently I'm in 11th grade and here are my current qualifications (exams that I have already passed):

-I have passed the IGCSE examinations, in 10th grade, with the following grades:
Math: A (9th grade)
History: A
English Language: A+
French Second Language: A
Geography: A
Chemistry: A
Physics: A
English Literature: A

-In 10th grade I passed the AS level Mathmatics examination with a grade A.

-In 10th grade i took the SAT with a score of 1350/1600. (this year I will retake and probably achieve 1500).

-This year I took the PSAT and I will most likely be a finalist in the NMSQT

This year (11th grade) I will have completed the following AP exams (hopefully all with grade 5s)-
-English Language
-English Literature
-Calculus BC
-Physics B (maybe 12th grade not sure yet)
-French
-Microeconomics/Macroeconomics
-Chemistry (maybe 12th grade not sure yet)

All of my AP courses are individual study because my school does the IB program. Also, I have been doing individual-study for math since 9th grade.

In 12th grade I will take attain my IB diploma (with ToK) by doing in the following subjects ( a "-" shows that although I probably will get a 7 i might get a 6):
Math HL (7)
Physics (7)
Chemistry (7)
Economics (7-)
French (7)
English (7-)

I also have/will have done the following extracurrilurs by the end of 12th grade:

-8yrs of TaeKwonDo
-I will have created a software DVD with a menu (using photoshop etc. also part of CAS)
-I will have created my own website (CAS)
-I will have at least 150hrs of CAS which includes aiding the Red Cross in Lebanon.
-I will have completed 2 years of tennis school
I also do the following sports: snowboard, golf, swimming, soccer, cross-country,basketball, and skiing.

Thanks guys for reading and for recommendations regarding how I can improve and if I can realistically expect to go.

Oh yeah I forgot...by the time i graduate I will have already completed 1 year of university maths (I think multi-variable calculus is the course after Calculus BC but I'm not sure).

Do something that you like, not something that will look good on MIT application. Unless you are an incredible writer, adcoms will sniff out the fake. (Although I'm only a HS student, I've read a couple of applications, and you won't believe how obvious this stuff is)

So, the only advice I can give you is do something you like, enjoy your life, learn for the sake of learning, not for the sake of being admitted, and be a human being, not a robot

Best of luck! :)

There's not much else to say besides that! Be sure to put all your passion for MIT and whatever else you enjoy into the essays. You could even talk about how much you love MIT in the "Anything Else?" optional essay - I don't know if it's actually a good idea, but I did it, so at least it won't be unprecedented!

Yeah thanks guys for your comments. I'm a pretty good a creative writting so doing a creative application essay won' t be too hard. TaeKwonDo and helping the Red Cross are the things I love to do outside of school. I kind of exaggerated when i said "every extracurricular"...

I don' t think many applicants will be a third degree black belt :P...also does anyone know if they're is a martial arts club in MIT? I don't recall seeing one on the website...

Thanks again guys

Haha, what kind of martial arts? Here is a list of MIT club sports -- I count ten different martial arts clubs, but I am not too solid on exactly what's considered a martial art and what's not. :)

EDIT: Oh, I see you said Tae Kwon Do. Yup, there are two -- Tae Kwon Do and Sport Tae Kwon Do.

Thanks for the info! I hope i get accepted...
