Help! I need to pick a career.

Hi, I was wondering what sort of career would entail (possible traveling)-->Not a requirement and good pay with societal interaction? not more that 8 years of school either....I want to help people & make a difference (cliche I know) but I also want to have a good paying job like 90,000+
I'm decent in school I work really hard but only have a 3.5 gpa and 27 act :(
So far I'm looking at
-dentist
-io psychologist(The only prob with this is a bachelors degree in psych is apparently worthless & I want to work while going to grad school)
Please Help? & Thank-You! :)

You don’t need to pick a career. You’re years away from having to pick a career. Right now, you need to do well in high school and get into a good school that offers a broad education. I guarantee that between now and the next four years you will change your prospective career several times.

I echo katliamom’s advice. Focus on getting a well-rounded education in high school and college now and soon enough, some career paths will peak your interest more than others. I myself didn’t know my exact postgraduate plans till the end of the senior year of college.

the classes you take in college and the intership possibilities will shape your career path . . . so give it time to play out

Let me try the reverse on you . . .

what classes interest you? what have been your favorite subjects? If you didn’t have to worry about any requrements what HS courses do you wish you had taken?

ok! thanks for all your advice I was just wondering like for a major in college?
I like reading alot and my favorite classes would have to be like a history or literature class and science classes…HATE MATH. I wish I could have take this mythology class we had at our scool…but alas, I ended up taking another ap class.

Very few 18-year-old have the perspective necessary to make lifelong commitments in career or relationships. And that’s as it should be.

I would disagree. Some people just need that sort of focus without a clear goal. I myself find it difficult to finish schoolwork that is pedestrian or unrelated to my interests/end-goals. But maybe just a general direction? You seem to be interested in a certain area. A bachelors following the pre-med distribution requirements would probably prepare you for grad school.

ok! Thank-You all so much for your advice! I just wish I knew what to do with my life
I’m just the kind of person who likes plans and a set course of direction haha! :)

Physical therapy or occupational therapy may be of interest, although they both require graduate school. OT in particular is very compatible with a psychology undergrad.

thank-you!!! :)
