I want to know your suggestion on this. I got my class schedule today & I don't know what I should do. I was suppose to take Calculus B/C but that is only offered 2nd period & I have ASB second period & I can't drop ASB because I'm treasurer. So they put me back into Calculus A/B. so now they're asking me to choose either ASB or Calc B/C. Do you think it's a good idea to take Calculus A/B again? But my counselor said that I would have to explain to colleges that even though I got an A I felt that I wasn't prepare for B/C. But I don't know about that. I want to know what you would do and what you'd think is best.

^ ugh, I have this same problem. I have advanced orchestra and Chinese 2 H both in 3rd period. I filled out a schedule change sheet, and I’m going to take it to my counselor tomorrow.

Mine is worse because i have to retake a class I got an A in T.T

Somebodyyyy!!!? I have no idea what to do :(

There is no way that you should retake a math class that you already got an A in. Most colleges want to see 4 different, progressive math classes. You need to find away to rework your schedule to insure you have all of the important core classes and if some other elective needs to be dropped, then so be it.

Yeah, you should NOT be retaking the same math class. Do anything in order to take B/C.

Why must you retake the math class? If you can’t take BC, then aren’t there other rigorous electives besides AB? It really doesn’t make any sense to retake a class you got an A in.

But I didn’t pass the Calc a/b… Is that something I should consider? Also, we have a new Calc teacher every year because so that Calc class was an easy A because he taught us nothing and gave us the easiest tests…

^ & my counselor suggested me to retake Calc a/b… Because that’s the only way that my schedule would work.

Would it be better to take AP US when I already took regular US last year? Or is that weird?

Would it look better on college app if I took human phys. (A regular class) than retaking AP Calc a/b?

I still don’t understand your situation. Did you or did you not take the Calc AB class? If you did but did not get a good score on the exam (this is what I think you’re saying), I would still be wary of retaking the class, because you have already taken it and you already have a grade for it. If you got an A in that class, there’s really nowhere to go but down. It’s your choice. Could you take the AP exam again? Perhaps all you need is a little self-directed study and you’ll get that 5.

I don’t think taking AP US History would be any weirder than retaking Calc AB, as that would definitely raise some questions as to why you’re taking it again after already having taken it. I guess at this point it’s up to you - do you have no other options?

You really need to progress in your math. Taking a class you got an A in again is ridiculous.

Retaking the AB class, despite your AP score, is a ridiculous idea so consider it not an option. With that said, drop ASB for BC and merely explain that to colleges instead. It makes way more sense to say BC conflicted with ASB, but you chose BC rather than saying you retook AB for a reason that pretty much makes no sense. Does your school offer any other math courses? If your school offers it, have you considered taking AP Stats (or perhaps some other math class offered) instead of BC and seeing how that’d work in your schedule? That’d be my suggestion!

I’ve already took Calc a/b. but my school doesn’t offer stats. We’re lucky to even haw Calc b/c with only 5 people in the class, would’ve been 8 if it wasn’t conflicting with ASB. I guess I’d drop ASB… But that means I have an extra class. Maybe I can ask my ASB advisor if there’s an alternative for me…

OMG! I got an idea! Maybe I can ask my ASB advisor if I can be his T.A for 1st period and I can do my ASB stuff and financial in that period & still be in ASB but take Calc b/c!
