Help! I really don't know if I'm going to get in anywhere...

So do you think I need more safeties??

Current high school senior, from a competitive public high school.
I don't know if I'm able to get into any of the schools I've applied to...help?

GPA: 3.55
ACT: 29
SAT: 1910
IB Diploma Candidate
ECs: Track, Swimming, Cross-Country (captain)

Applied to:
University of Vermont
University of Maryland College Park
Wheaton College
Tufts
Wellesley
Macalester
Mount Holyoke
Swarthmore
American University

Any thoughts?
(Prospective major: anthropology)

You are an athlete all right, but are you recruitable? I believe more ECs more closely related to anthro are desirable, since your ECs are pretty weak.

UVT: Safety (might even get the Presidential Scholarship; I saw people with less than that get that scholarship)
UMD: Match
Wheaton (MA): Match
Wheaton (IL): Match
Tufts: Reach (GPA a little low)
Wellesley: High match
Macalester: Reach
Mt. Holyoke: Match
Swarthmore: Reach
American U: Match

I think McGill is a safety, since anthropology is under the jurisdiction of Arts for admissions purposes and that the safety line for anthropology is a “B+” average (~3.4) and 28 composite, as long as your subscores are 25+ (I saw people get into anthropology with less than that but it wasn’t a safety for those people) And more affordable than UVT out-of-state, even with presidential scholarship (assuming you’re OOS).

If I where you I would try and find 1-2 more safeties, more safeties will also allow you to compare financial aid/scholarships. If you are not recruitable your ECs will be holding you back.

community college may be a little out of reach.
