I know I should be happy... I applied to 8 schools and only got rejected from 1 -- granted 3 are waitlists. But I just feel so down, like everything is out of my control... I need to decide what to do; where should I accept waitlist spots? is the tuition worth it?... And I just really need some imput or help or anything you can offer...

Accepted at Bard, Hampshire, Wells, SUNY Cortland
Waitlisted at Hamilton, Colgate, Skidmore

I want somewhere intulectual... Somewhere that I'll fit in -- I'm super a super liberal environmental activist. I don't even know what else to tell you. I'm just so overwhelmed right now... I don't know what to do.

If anyone could offer some advice... Some help of any kind... I would be eternally grateful.

Bard's a pretty hippie-school, if that's what you're looking for (sounds like it is). I can't say much about cost because I don't know your financial situation/aid prospects.

You're freaking out... because you got accepted? You've gotta be kidding. Start by investigating the schools in depth; email students and teachers or check out the school newspapers.

Do your waitlist schools offer full financial aid to people admitted off the waitlist? I got waitlisted at two schools, and one offers full financial aid to students admitted off the waitlist while the other doesn't (and might take need into account when admitting off of the waitlist), so that might be something you'd like to look into. I don't know what exactly your situation is like, but what I'd suggest is choosing one of your accepted schools (based on how much you like it, family financial situation, etc.), but also staying on one or more of the waitlists if you want to (depending on how much you like your waitlist schools versus your accepted schools). That way you'd have a good school regardless of whether or not you get off the waitlist, how financial stuff works out with the waitlist schools, etc.

have you visited any of these schools? If not, can you get out to their admitted student days in the next couple of weeks? That might give you a better taste of what would be a good fit for you.

Hampshire ;-)

You've got that environment you so desire, and all the academic resources from Hampshire and those other great schools around Amherst...

i think right now u just need to take a couple deep breaths...
