HELP! I'm absolutely desperate

I have wanted to audition for a good school's acting program for my entire high school career, but I never knew WHICH schools were the good ones. I'm just starting to finally learn where the good ones are, but it's too late! Many of their applications were due a while ago and the audition slots are all full.

If anyone knows any GOOD schools (like, a school YOU would audition for acting for) whose applications are not due and who have open audition slots in February or March, I'd REALLY appreciate a list. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

I know I'm out on a limb here. =/

If you are prepared to audition, and know of the audition sites for some of the schools, you may be allowed to do walk-in auditions and apply later (a LOT of acting schools let you do this, where if you arrive on the audition day at the site, you can sign up and audition without having previously applied). I believe CalArts, SUNY Purchase, CMU, and Mason Gross at Rutgers and others allow this during their unified auditions in Chicago and New York…you might want to look into that as an option because I know a lot of people who actually got into top schools on walk in auditions.

I just wanted to 2nd BlueRoses mention about the walk-in auditions, but, you should also know that the Unified Auditions are coming up very very quickly. I know that the Chicago auditions will be at the Palmer House Hilton February 1-4. You will need to look up the dates of the various cities (NY, LA, Chicago, and I think Vegas) and book your hotel reservations. Good luck!!!

Though I can’t give too many specific schools, I know a lot of schools that have rolling admissions deadlines are still able to be applied to. You might want to look into just BA theatre programs at the schools with rolling admission but don’t require an audition, or if they do require an audition can be held whenever you can get there.

Also, you can always send in an audition tape to a lot of places if you can’t make their audition dates. I know Syracuse, Penn State, and Rutgers have all had their “Priority” deadline pass but you could try anyway. Webster, UArts, and Point Park allow audition tapes to be sent and they are all rolling (good programs too).

Check the unified auditions website and look at those schools because a lot of them have rolling-ish decision for acting and a lot of them will also accept audition tapes.

But as it is already February 8th this is something you’ll want to do today or tomorrow if possible. First figure out if they’ll accept an audition tape (assuming the deadline hasn’t passed), then submit your application, film your audition tape, and make sure you get all your transcripts and test scores in. Like I said though, this is something you’ll have to do quickly and perhaps just sit down and spend all of today or tomorrow reading through websites of colleges you’re interested in.
