Help Im Scared!!! Howard University

Ok so I really want to go to Howard University, it is my number one choice!
But I don’t think my chances are good, I am an average/okay student and I know that Howard is selective.

My GPA is 3.0 and my ACT is an 18, I recently retook it so hopefully I got a higher score.
I go to a Jesuit College Prep school so my courses are extremely hard.
I have 4 years or Math, English, Science
3 Years of Foreign Language
1 year of US History
1 year of Government
1 year of Economics
1 year of World History
1 year of Geography
Most of my courses have been honors

I have a lot of community service hours under me and hopefully extremely good recommendations.
I also have done 4 internships at corporate businesses in Houston (where I live).

I planned on doing Early Action but I got nervous and did not submit it.
So could someone tell me what Howard is looking for in an essay and my chance of getting into the University.

@Zanderson2016 I say apply anyway, I think you make a good case for admissions but if you don’t get in it’s not like a rejection letter is going to kill you. Supplement your application with good recommendation letters and a great essay.

But you have great HBCUs in your region that will let you in no doubt

  1. Texas Southern University has many great programs and facilities. Also TSU produces one of the highest numbers of black PhDs in the country
  2. PV is ranked #2 in the nation on the CollegeNet’s Social Mobility Index (ahead of Howard) and a bigger campus
  3. Southern University has the best nursing school in the Louisiana
  4. Jackson State University is one of the top HBCU research institutions in the nation and is growing like crazy

Don’t forget the economic factor. The schools I mentioned are way cheaper than Howard so you save money, especially the Texas schools

Because of your GPA and test scores, it may be hard for you to get scholarships even if you are accepted which means lots of debt.

Pretty sure you will get accepted, but without a merit scholarship.

high school 3.3 GPA
I’m about to graduate with my Associates of Arts with a 2.5 from CC
I would like to transfer to Howard arts and science the switch to the school of business
About to take the Act
chances of getting in ?

Howard doesn’t really take a lot of transfer credits so please inquire before applying.

Even with an Associate’s degree there is strong possibility it could take you 4-5 years to graduate. Especially coming into Arts and Sciences and then transferring to the School of Business…I wouldn’t advise doing that.

Question? If I’m placed in college algebra freshman year, how can I take calculus before senior year? It’s a dental school prerequisite and I need it. It’s also on the DAT

@Zanderson2016 Hey! Were you accepted into Howard?
