I'm so mad after working my ass off in Community college my first semester I got a C+ in a class. I was wondering if this is really bad. I'm scared that this will ruin my plans, I'm trying to transfer to either Georgetown College, NYU, or Rutgers. This is my first semester and so far that is my lowest grade that one C+ I was wondering if this will really affect me in a big way. Please someone help I can't stop thinking about that C+ I feel like it ruined my whole future. I never did that great in High School because I found it too easy and felt it was a joke. Once I graduated I realized my mistake and ended up in Community College I promised my self I would do better in Community College. Now seeing this C+ is killing me. The semester is over and these are my grades for four different classes I have an one A in one class a B in another I also have another B and finally the C+ that's killing me. The class I got that grade in isn't even that important for my major which is political science and the class i got a C+ was math.

Hey, it is one grade, don’t beat yourself up too much.

What kind of math class was it? Is it college math or developmental math? I’m asking because whether or not it transfers will determine what impact it has on your GPA.

If the grade really bothers you, consider retaking the class. Both grades will probably count in calculating your transfer GPA (assuming the class transfers).

In any case, don’t let it get you down. One C+ won’t necessarily get in the way of your transfer chances. Just buckle down and try not to get anymore.

The class was an EBS class so yea it was development. They told me those classes still affect your gpa though.

Well, a lot of the schools will calculate a transfer GPA based on what classes they will accept. Since this class won’t transfer it won’t be considered as heavily as other classes.

What can really make a difference is showing significant improvement in any remaining math classes. Does your school offer tutoring?

Yes they do have tutoring classes. I really hope it doesn’t affect my chances to transfer. So how would this work my GPA will be totally different when I transfer like they will only add up the classes that transfer and find a new GPA from that?

How can you seriously expect to transfer to a good college when you get such lousy grades at a CC? Seriously 2 B’s and a C+? That sucks, you gotta pick up your game if you want any chance of getting into a good college.

Actually I made a mistake i got 2 A’s one B+ and a C+ I know its still bad but can’t do anything about it now. I’m gonna just take honor classes I heard they bring your gpa up. My gpa is a 3.5 and this is my first semester. I’m hoping to bring it up to at least a 3.9 before I transfer from the cc.

O well then thats a lot better than what you posted orginally :). If you work hard and indeed get your GPA up you will be fine.
