So, I got all my decisions back from colleges today and I got acceptances from all four of my top choices: UChicago, Harvard, Princeton, MIT!

I was wondering if anyone out there could help me parse out between these schools, particularly based on my intended major: economics...

Thanks guys!!

Holy crap! Well done.

Is cost an issue? Are you leaning towards any particular school? Have you visited each one?

My feeling is that, all else being equal, you should go to the one where you think you will fit in the best.

Thanks! Cost is not really an issue so far, I can’t say for UChicago or Harvard but Princeton and MIT have given me reasonable financial aid and I don’t see UChicago or Harvard not giving just as reasonable of aid. My parents’ want Harvard just because it’s “No. 1”, I just want to give all the schools an equal chance.

I’m going to do a tour of all the schools in April so I guess I can just find out then but I just want to know how people on CC feel!

Note the difference in breadth requirements at the schools; MIT will likely have the most rigorous breadth requirements to ensure that each student gets a well rounded liberal arts education.

If you are really set on economics, I would argue that MIT is superior to the others. U of Chicago is seen as more conservative but it still has an amazing economics department. As does Harvard.

Yet the economists coming out of MIT are incredible (John Bates winners, Nobel Prize winners, etc.). A lot of people may disagree with me on this, but I honestly think MIT has probably one of the best economics faculty in the world.
