Help in scheduling 2011-2012

Im an upcoming Junior and Im having some serious issues with my schedule.

My ideal schedule:
HN Physics
HN Pre-calc
AP English
AP History
Spanish 4
Media 2

My counselor has recently told me that I cannot have that schedule because Spanish, HN PreCalc and Media are too conflicted with each other. They are only offered during 1st and 12th periods, with the exception of media (ONLY 1st period).

So my choices are:
Spanish & HN PreCalc & an elective that I dont care about
Spanish & Media 2 & REG. PreCalc
(I plan on going to Spanish 5)

I really want to take the fun route ( with media) , but Im deathly afraid of it ruining my future considering HN Precalc = AP Calc Senior year (which is what I want, especially with colleges looking at the course I take). Is it so important that I take AP Calc? Would it hurt me if I didn't take HN PreCalc and took media instead? I would like to go into a good college and I do not know what I would like to major in either.

Its a difficult decision between what I want and what I think is best.

What are your other elective options? Isn’t there anything else you could do that you would enjoy?

As much as you want to do Media2, it really would be best to take honors precalc, especially since you don’t plan to go into media anyway. That said, if math isn’t really your thing, I don’t think it would be that big of a deal if you took regular calc senior year, as long as you took a few other AP classes.

I know someone who did honors pre-calc and got a B. However she transfered out second semester and got a B. So in other words, both may not be very different. Consider that in your selection.

Although if you love media and might even major or minor in it, than do that. Half that people at my school do honors pre-calc. Not many people are in media. Again, consider that.

First option…colleges care more about the core classes than electives
