help! international student confused about SAT and SAT II reporting

i'm a senior this year but have only decided to apply to the States so I haven't taken any SAT + SAT IIs yet

I plan to take the SAT in October, three SAT tests in November and retake anything in December..

I plan to not send the scores yet for the October test, put down all 8 schools i'm applying to (like when registering for the SATs) in November and have them sent then. Then, if I want them sent in December again, I just put down all 8 schools then? Does that work?

Like the schools have different deadline--Penn for example wants scores in by Jan. 1, Princeton- March 1st-- (as said on collegeboard website). How long does it take to send scores to a college?

please help! i spent a lot of time looking around this forum and the internet for a clear answer but couldn't find one

when you take the ACT or SAT, it usually takes about 4-6 weeks for you to get your scores, and i think it takes almost that long for them to be sent to colleges. if you take the SAT in november, you probably won't have gotten your scores by the time you plan to take the test again in december. however, you can submit your application to a college and send your first set of scores. then, if your second set of scores are better, you can send those to the college too and both sets of scores will be considered. the college will choose your best scores and look at them.

i would recommend that you send your october SAT scores. when you take the test, you're allowed to send scores to 3 or 4 schools free. so why not do this? if you retake the SAT later and get better scores, send those too. whenever you take the test, you will be asked whether you want your scores sent to particular schools. you can send your scores to a certain cshool as many times as you want, though it's advisable that you don't send more than 2 or 3 sets of scores. if you take the SAT more than 3 times, your scores aren't gonna go up at all, and colleges will just think you're unsure of yourself.

also, are you sure princeton wants scores by march 1st? that seems VERY late. the latest deadline i've found is january 15th (unless you're planning to enter college in the spring semester).

i hope this helped. good luck!

Tests

* SAT Reasoning / ACT score report due by: 01-MAR
* SAT Subject score report due by: 01-MAR

i dunno, thats what it says.

thanks for the help. i think i'll do as you said and send my SAT scores to 4 schools for free in October, then send them to all of them in November..

When it says you can send scores to 4 schools, does it send ALL of your score ON AND BEFORE the test date, ON, BEFORE, AND AFTER the test date, or only that ONE test you took that day?
Thanks in advance.

when you take the test, there's a section that asks for info about you. one of the questions asks which schools (if any) you'd like your scores sent to. those schools will receive your scores just from that one day of testing. however, you can get online and order score reports from any testing day sent to any school.

Oh, just from that one day :(.
Thanks for replying!

Wait, so really if one is applying to 4 schools and take the SAT I once and SAT II once and send those scores (for free) to the four colleges both times, then scores wouldn't need to be sent again in senior year?

if you send the scores during your junior year (and you're happy with those scores) you shouldn't have to send them again during your senior year. the college will keep those scores on file for you. however, there may be a few colleges that don't do this (not that i've ever heard of any), so you might want to check the colleges' websites or ask your HS counselor just in case.

no i dont think its that one day..read this:

Use this form to change your score recipients. You can add new recipients, confirm those already on your list, or remove any on your list. The first four score reports are included in your registration fee. There is a charge if you request more than four score reports.

Remember: a cumulative report of all scores that are available and reportable at the time your request is received will be sent. View your list of scores that will be included in the report.

Only the score recipients listed receive available scores. Previous score recipients are not automatically sent new scores.

cumulative report!

Oh okay, so it goes something like this:
I take a test in May and a test in June
I report May's scores to schools A, B, C, and D.
Then in June, I report to schools E, F, G, and H.

A,B,C, and D schools receive the May scores and before
and E, F, G, and H schools receive the June, May, and previous scores.
Correct?

that's correct.
