hey guys, i just wanna know what are the good colleges in the US for international studies, they dont have to be top notch like columbia or anything

Anyone who is currently majoring in IS, how is it like in terms of the difficulty of the course?
Do you guys think a minor in journalism is a good move?

i m thinkin of middlebury as well
please tell me you guys think of the IS departements in these schools
thanks!

UChicago is definitely “top notch like Columbia”

The fact of the matter is that there are top notch schools for IS or international relations, and then there are just other schools. It is a relatively new field of study, but like other liberal arts degrees, there aren’t really any colleges that offer it that are bad at it. It’s a lot like political science. UChicago has an amazing political science department, as do a few other notable schools. But, you can really get a great poli-sci education anywhere.

Johns Hopkins

also Tufts

yea i agree with you applicannot but there are some schools that do it better than others i guess.
okay, thanks fr ur great feedback! what about middlebury? does anyone know about it?
thanks (:

Georgetown and George Washington University both in DC

Middlebury’s program is top notch.

You may also want to investigate which schools have both International Studies and International Relations. Figure out which is most interesting to you because some schools may not have International Studies as a major. Middlebury’s program does seem to be excellent and they have both; for international studies you choose a region to specialize in and then a substantive focus like literature, history, anthropology, arts and culture. They also have an outstanding environmental studies program which can be done with an international focus.

thanks a lot for your replies guys!
