Hello, I was just accepted to UNC as a transfer student, I want to major in exercise and sports science; I was also accepted to NC State in the sports management program. Could anyone give some information on UNC? How strong is their exercise science major? Hos is it to be on campus? Do you like the environment? The students, staff, professors? Any help will be really appreciated, I am trying to decide is chapel hill is the right place for me. A little information about myself, I am a minority female student, hispanic who immigrated to the US almost three years ago, I live in Durham, NC. I love sports, specially soccer, I plan on playing at the university at the club or intramural level. I come from a CC here in NC, I will be transfering as a Junior.
Thank you very much in advance to anyone who is able to give some insight and information that would help me decide.

First … congrats!

I have a number of friends that are interested in careers in sports management and are here because they can pursue a dual major in EXSS and a BSBA in Kenan-Flagler (top 10 undergrad business program). Coming in as a junior may preclude that as an option, but, you should explore, as that would be a clear reason for UNC.

Sorry I can’t comment on the specifics with the EXSS programs or professors, perhaps someone else can help you with that. Since you are nearby and accepted, why not come over and see if you could speak with an advisor in EXSS?

As a student here, I love the campus and the people. I am a huge sports fan as well. One of the reasons I love UNC is that every week I can watch a number of sports in which we are contenders at a national level. Obviously our women’s soccer team with 21 national championships is the gold standard for women’s soccer. Many of our former players are current or former team USA players… like Mia Hamm (who is a big Tar Heel supporter and who I’ve seen on campus quite a few times). Our club/intramural women’s soccer teams are quite popular. Seeing some of them play, I’d say some are probably D1 material elsewhere. You should be quite satisfied with those programs.
