I'm an international student applying to Stanford. My parents can't afford the huge cost, so I will be applying for financial aid.

My CV shows that I have done a lot of travel working in NGOs in Africa and other destinations. All this jet-setting looks like I have got a lot of money. However, a family member works for a flight company, which is why all of this is possible.

Should I specifically mention this on my application?

Otherwise the uni might assume I have lots of cash and reduce the amount of the grant.

Your finanicial aid will NOT be based on the types of travel you do, or the places you have been. Your financial aid will be based on yours and your parents incomes and assets in U.S. dollars. You will have to complete a financial aid application form for Stanford and any other U.S. School.

The following if from the Stanford website. It looks like they do NOT offer full financial aid to all admitted international students…only limited aid is offered.

You will need to complete the CSS Profile for aid consideration. Check the deadlines for your applcation type on their website.

This was also part of their financial aid website (which you need to read THOROUGHLY yourself):
