I did horrible on my PSAT's i got a 164/240 or 1640/2400.With no prep I got Math 65, CR 50,WR 49. I'm African-American and I'm assuming that I didn't even qualify for National Achievement. So anyway I have the SAT I, SAT II's in Math Level 2/Physics, and AP's in Economics and English Language coming up this spring. As you can see I really need to ace all these tests. What is the best schedule to take them preferably in March/May/June? Is SAT I in March, AP's in May, and SAT II's in June the best route to go? Also if I took the SAT I in March do I have enough time from now till then to bring my score up to at least 2000-2100?

I don’t want to be mean, but only you will know. Only you can assess your strengths and weaknesses. You need to make a schedule yourself, based on your own observations because you obviously know yourself better than we know you. I would spend the next hour outlining all the topics and when you will cover them, and do everything with confidence, and you will ace everything… thats what I do.

I don’t think that I did good on my PSAT as well, but I didn’t really prepare. The only book that I even read prior to taking it was Princeton Review. After months of prepping, I’m VERY confident in myself, all I really need to work on is speed in CR and effiency/careless mistakes in Math(the one thing that most people suffer on).

Here’s the best way to strategy: get great books, and really read the strategies. Try to implement those strategies into practice tests. You’ll see your errors, and try to see why you got it wrong and see if you can fix it. It’s a long process, but eventually you’ll develop your own pattern and approach to taking EACH section. The key is that you need to spend TIME, and lots of it to get a 2100. Get good books like Rocket Review for everything, Gruber’s for Math, and Barron’s(2400 and How to prepare for the SAT 2007-2008 are both great books). Then get the Collegeboard blue book and take those practice tests using the strategies that you learned. TIME YOURSELF, analyze your mistakes, and if you do that enough, you’ll get a good score. If you don’t put effort into it, then don’t be surprised by a low score. Also, gotta memorize vocab, and lots of it. Google the Sparknotes 1000 SAT word list. If you want a 700 in CR, you need to know vocab, so start memorizing and start working hard, it’s a long road lol.

hey man good job that is a pretty good score among African american’s. From what I can see take SAT’s in March so no studying in April or May for SAT just AP. Then take SAT 2 in june. Im in same situation as you are. I got terrible psat scores 174 or something and all the top scorers in my grade got 190-210 i am studying for January SAT wish me luck.

Hope this helps

164 to 200 is definitely possible if you just work hard for it. Get some review books and start studying. I would suggest that you sign up for the June Sat so you have a few more months to study as opposed to taking it in March. Follow RahoulVA’s good advice on preparing for the SAT
