here are some of my quesitons:
it seems ACT only 17% submitted that to harvard? why is that?
and then i was thinking that i would just submit SAT to harvard, duke etc take

i am taking SAT II in chem and math 2 c in about a week and a half, so i was wondering shoudl i add another test? how would i do on spnaish ? (only spanish 4)

also, most importantly, what do i have a good shot at? i really want to go to harvard, buti mean that's just a dream. who knows.

im probably leaving a lot out, but thanks for your opinoins in advance.

**oo yea , im starting to think of asking teachers for recs. do schools prefer anythign like one science, one huamnities, etc??

bump

why are you guys so not helppfuL?

Where do the top kids from your school usually end going?

this year two kids are going to duke, two going to northwestern, cal tech, last year one harvard, stanford, penn

do work on standardized tests. Focus in on ECs, don't list them all, maybe just 3 or 4. just 'membership' in a club doesn't really matter.

then you'll have a shot at harvard, which is as much as anyone gets.

i would agree. focus on certain ECs, especially community service ones. do you have any idea what you want to study? for instance, if you like math and science, focus on mathletes and JETS, if you wanna study music, focus on orchestra, law focus on debate, etc. other than that i would say you have a good chance at anywhere. congrats

ACT's are fine for all schools-including Harvard. "Story" from our HS (Long Island-NY) is one of the top students in d's graduating class did fine on SAT's (1450 range) but not fantastic. She took ACT's and did much better. She is the first kid from our HS that got into Harvard. As most NE kids have not taken the ACT's, the % of kids applying to Harvard using the ACT has been much lower than the SAT test. You seem to be an extremely fine candidate for any school in which you will apply. But start to focus on your interests and what you want to study and what type of school environment you want to be in (LAC vs. large Univ). If you want to continue with your music, you may want to look at schools like JHU or Oberlin or Rochester as they are connected with conservatories. But please broaden your search past Harvard- it's the dream of 20,000 other well qualified kids too. Good luck.

Don't take the SAT II spanish or any SAT II cold - at least practice a test from the Real SAT II's in chem and IIC to see if you need to review anything. IIC should be pretty straightforward for you, but the chem test is hard. If you don't score above 700 in the spanish practice test, don't take it in June.

I agree with marny1's advice - lots of great schools, of which Harvard is only one.

thanks all for your thoughts...as for the music, im definitely not a math prodigy. if i were compared to any school's orchestra, i'd be concert master. but the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra is an extremely select group, including kids from pennsylvania and thus i dont excel in the orch. im not a violin wiz, but i was thinking of over the summer making a dvd with couple performances by me and audio clips of my orchestra performances.

ur Ivy material, kid!

thanks myopic

well...my sat 2's i took a few weeks ago came back. i didnt do too well... :(
math 2c: 750
