September:
I go to 2 English teachers and ask for recs. I tell them that I want to major in English (creative writing).

October:
I submit all my apps. The teachers have submitted their recs as well.

December:
I suddenly change my mind and want to go to Business School.
I call up two of my schools and ask to change the major indicated on my application. I tell them that I want to major in Marketing.
I tell my parents.
My parents: "Well, that was incredibly dumb. You got recs from English teachers because you wanted to major in English. How's that going to look on your app? Your teachers gush about what a great writer you are, and it turns out you're actually applying to business school!"

So was it a mistake to change potential majors all of a sudden? Will this seriously hurt my chances of getting in? Please help... :(

yeah you could've changed your major afterwards, unless you're applying to a business school, but in that case you'd have to write a completely new essay haha.

Right, see, that's the thing. Some colleges have separate schools, like "College of Arts and Sciences" and "School of Business". I had to switch from the former to the latter.

I don't see why you need to change recs. Good writing skills = good communication skills = great for any businessperson. Unless you took an advanced business class or had a fantastic internship, I don't see why you would need extra recs.

Recs relate to admissions how strong you are as a learner, not box you into any particular profession or even school.

It's a slightly different case if the business school you're applying to requires recs from certain types of teachers (like a math rec).
