Help! Just got my APWH Q1 Class Grade..

Sorry somewhat new here and wasn't sure if this was the right forum to post in (feel free to move it if it isn't), and sorry but this is actually going to be a couple of questions.

So our first quarter ended a little bit ago, and my AP World History teacher just finalized our grades. Unfortunately I'm not doing nearly as well as I would have liked. My final grade for the first quarter was a B, brought down by a terrible Unit Essay grade (65%... ouch!!) and and a unit test grade of 75% (curve was just brutal...), as well as our twice weekly chapter tests (which my average was around a B) and the fact that our grades are not weighted with quizes/tests making up about 85% of my grade....

Is this normal? For anyone else in an AP, I realize that they're supposed to have a ton of tests and quizes but I wasn't expecting nearly 85% of my grade to come from them.

Anyway enough of my excuses, the main question I'm wanting to ask is, what grade will colleges (semi- prestigious ones) want to see for a course like AP World History? And how much will they care about my AP Exam Score compared to my actual class score?

Thanks a lot if you've taken the time to read all of that, and I'll appreciate any responses, advice.. ect.

That’s how college is. Also, didn’t the class give a syllabus?

Hello! There is nothing wrong with getting a B. If you want an A, then the B only tells you that you need to work harder. However, the grade is not the most important thing; the actual learning of the material is. If you can master the material, then you will get a 5. Colleges want to see A’s, but guess what? The grade does not transfer into college credit; the exam grade does. SO I suggest you focus more on learning the material and then do really well on the exam. Good Luck. Everything will be fine. - Orbit (I had similar experiences with APUSH).

Yakyu has a point. What’s important to remember is that AP classes are college classes, and will often be taught and graded as such. “Semi-prestigious” colleges will probably want to see an A.

APWH is one of the toughest APs (well, in my opinion). If the teacher is being harsh then it just means you’ll be better prepared for the AP exam.

well, you can forget about college cause you’re not getting in anytime soon…you might want to retake the class.

(I hope you catch my sarcasm, cause i’m obviously kidding. Nothing to worry about… just kick ass the rest of the year and pull out an A =D )
