You have to list GPA and Scores if you want real answers. I don’t know how your HS calculates GPA. Where are you taking your college classes? Community College? State U?

I haven’t taken my SAT’s yet because i just came home from living in Italy. I’ll have to check what my GPA is but im ranked around 37th out of 417 in my class

You should also include the University of Pennsylvania. It is similar to Columbia, JHU, Georgetown, and has fantastic sociology and criminology departments.

Thanks Ilovebagels

You are oh so welcome, my dear ;)

Did you study at an American school in Italy or at a regular Italian school ?

The reason I’m asking is that I assume the school-leaving certificate in Italy (Diploma de Esame di Stato ?) would be of a higher standing than an American HS diploma (more like a French BAC, German Abitur, or British A-Levels). The classes you listed though are of a much lower level (e.g. pre-calc, trig, etc.).

I would include more schools in the middle - you have a lot of extreme reaches (Ivies, georgetown, JHU, UVA) but not that many matches & reaches… just safeties. I would balance out your list.

How intent are you on specializing in Criminology? If you are certain about criminology/criminal justice, then U Maryland College Park might be your best option. Maryland is a very selective public university with one of the best Criminology departments in the country. They had 514 criminology graduates last year. US News ranked them #1. They offer a PhD in this subject.

But, Cornell is ranked #14 in Sociology.

There are many avenues to a career with the FBI. You might want to look into the possibility of majoring in sociology and then getting a law degree. Cornell has an excellent pre-law program.

[Cornell University Sociology](http://www.soc.cornell.edu/)

Cornell has an Italian Studies program

[romance studies at cornell | italian | undergraduate](http://www.arts.cornell.edu/romance/italian/it_ugrad.html)

Clarice Starling attended UVA. ;)

I believe that many people who join the FBI majored in engineering, business, accounting, etc. You might want to look into that before putting all your eggs in the criminology basket. Then again, if that’s what interests you, go for it.
