good one mini! (don't know if OP thinks so, but I do)

thanks for your help guys ...but the truth is there are probably a ton of good schools out there that i won't get to know and it's not about the stories that i hear from my friends or what you guys tell me about these schools ...sometimes we get too caught up with names - and that is why i was very annoyed with the posts about princeton- haven't we all heard of those, but what do you really get there? yes prestige, world reknown teachers, brilliant-crazy students, but for us mere mortals we just in the end we want a place with a quality education- this is teachers that care, that know who you (and don't shoo you away because they want to do research), somewhere to think and grow

Clearly you have already formed your own opinion of Princeton and weren't going to listen to us anyways...

But if you want to go to a top school with a fantastic math program and a focus on undergrads, then you should go to Princeton.

i'm being realistic about myself and i know that i am not princeton material

Not with that ******** attitude. With the schools on your list, Princeton may be a reach, but it's really pathetic to not even try, considering that it seems to have everything you want.

I'm applying to Princeton and would seriously put 50-1 bets against myself to get in.

oh come on! who the **** are you to tell me how i feel... It will help you get a good job or get into a...

Jpps1 on why it is a good reason to go to an ivy league school, "It will help you get a good job or get into a good grad school. A 3.5 at Iowa St. is not a 3.5 at Harvard. And I'll admit--it would feel awesome when people ask you what school you go to, and you get... "

hmmm.... yah let me trust you ...

Actually, Princeton is not that difficult to enter relatively compared to its peers (Harvard, MIT, Caltech, Stanford, etc). Entrance to any of these schools would be a crapshoot. So why don't give yourself a shot.

I'm going to stress Macalester!

Greygirl, Bryn Mawr has a good reputation for Math. A high percentage of BMC's math graduates go on to top graduate schools. It would certainly be easier to get into than some of the other schools that have been recommended. Bryn Mawr also has a Growth and Structure of Cities major which some students use as a preparation for graduate programs in architecture.

Might want to look at Holy Cross, Colgate, and Bowdoin-all very good LAC's that are easier to gain admission in contrast to Williams. Of the 3, Holy Cross has a better location-1 hour to Boston. And while HC is a Jesuit school -like Georgetown- it recruits diversity and isn't that religious.
