I was wondering if anyone can tell me what types of schools I can get into with a 3.5 UW gpa (around 3.9/4.0W)… but with a 34 on the ACT.
I have many ECs (clubs since freshman year, 150+ volunteer hours at hospital, track/xc for 3 years, school volunteering, a bunch more) and have taken AP/Honors throughout high school.
I got all Bs freshman and B/A sophomore… junior year was really good though! So I have been improving.
So what do you guys think about these schools: USC, UCSB, Indiana University, U of Miami (FL), UVA, NYU, U Michigan, or anything else you think of.
EVERY response appreciated!! Thank you.
Not really a low GPA. Many schools will not only take you, they will give you good money, too.
Not for UMich as they consider GPA to be the most important factor, unless you have a great class rank and the school profile indicates grade deflation.
If you are OOS I wouldn’t bet on UVa- too tight a cap. Depending on how your essays/recs, I would imagine you’d get some offeres, but I would be surprised if you get “good money” (to quote the above poster) at any of them.
If money is an issue, remember that state schools, unless they are trying to woo OOS students with strong scores (like Alabama), typically don’t give out a lot of money. Merit money tends to be more generous from good private schools who are trying to raise their profile, so consider looking at ones where your GPA/test scores are in the top 25% of admitted students.
