Help Major Issue

I went to a school out of state in 1997-1998 and left there and ended up at an extension center of a college in 1998. The school that I attended from 1997-1998, Quincy University in Quincy, IL knew that I went to another school and even transferred my transcripts to that other university, Missouri Baptist University, no problem.

But after a time, while I was working on my undergraduate degree, a triple major in human services, psychology, and criminal justice. I was going to 8 week courses, this was back in Summer of 2004. I found out that my financial aid had been denied. After having to drop my classes that I was taking and some research, it was determined that Quincy University had sent information to financial aid stating that I was no longer in school and they defaulted my student loans.

I had attempted to contact Quincy University because they had sent my transcripts to another college and knew I was attending elsewhere, but they stated that they did not have to fix it and basically gave me the run around. I am trying to see if anyone knows how I can correct this issue so that I can go back to finish my degree. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. I have a copy of my Student Official Transcript from Missouri Baptist University showing the Transfer credit from Quincy University.

Transferring the academic credits, and clearing the financial aid paperwork are two distinct things.

Have you paid anything on your student loans since 2004?

You have 2 different issues going on; academic and financial.

for the academic piece:

Where ever you go, they will want official transcripts from every college that you attended. While it is great that your Student Official Transcript from Missouri Baptist University shows the Transfer credit from Quincy University.

However, most schools will not accept your student issued transcripts. You are going to need official transcripts from both Missouri Baptist University and from Quincy University. If you owe either or both of them money, most likely you will not get an official transcript.

Now for the money part. The FAFSA will ask if you have defaulted on your student loans. If you are in default you lose eligibility for additional federal student aid. If you need aid, you will not get it until you clean up your loans.
