I've never had any prior education in computer science, yet I would like to explore it. Can I just take the COMPSCI 061A and begin this journey? Are there any prerequisites to this class? I'll also be taking Math 1B

You should be fine just going into 61a, but the first two weeks might be rough since you won’t have any experience with things like recursion. Math 1A is technically a prereq, but you don’t really need it.

Thank you, tyrion!

you might want to take the class that helps with cs61a. forgot what the name was though. I think it was like c3 something.

Looks like the only pre-61A course offered next fall is 10, which is normally for non-majors.

However, you can preview CS 61A here:
[CS61A Home Page](CS61A Home Page)

Note that the textbooks and Python or Scheme language interpreters are free to download from the web, so you can do the examples and exercises on your own computer over the summer.
