Hi! My son is down to the wire in having to choose his college. He is soooo confused. Likes all the schools. Big vs. small, distance, etc.....doesn't matter to him. Food did matter and all have fine food (we've eaten at each).

He wants a good mechanical engineering program. He wants to get involved right from the beginning in Formula SAE or BAHA racing clubs. He has played soccer his whole life...year round and would like to continue on a club team in college.

His choices are University of Maryland, Lafayette, North Carolina State, and Clemson.

Any guidance, ideas, things for him to consider would be GREATLY appreciated!

Counting down....2 days to go......

Karen

Lafayette is really a nice place. Good engineering program, nice campus, good atmosphere, good mix of students.

I would choose Maryland if it were me, but that is just because they have a good program and I like the DC area. The only bad thing about Maryland is that they have Greivis Vasquez on the basketball team, who is unbelievably annoying, so I probably wouldn’t be able to watch games until he was gone. That is hardly a reason to pick or not to pick a school though, haha.

Maryland and NC State are both ranked high and the best in their own right. Clemson is ranked lower but is still the ‘go to’ engineering school in SC so I’d consider it too.

But I’d leave out Lafayette, it is going to a have a big shadow over it from Purdue, don’t you think?

Well cyclone10, if Lafayette College was in Lafayette, IN, you may be right, but Easton, PA isn’t too close to Purdue. ;-)

ohhh, I was way off haha
