i'm new here and really rather desperate as i have a few days to submit my s.i.r. i've been accepted at both ucla and cal and will be transferring in the fall. both schools have offered me the regents scholarship and i'm planning on double majoring in history and pol sci. i've boiled down my choice to cal being the stronger academia school and ucla being closer to home hence, the community support.
everyone's given me opinions and i'm so conflicted. wondering what does the community at large feel about these two schools..
help please?

Did you visit both?

I loved Cal because it was the right distance from home and offered the best education for the cheapest price. Since you're Regents at both Cal and UCLA, it makes the decision tougher. I'm biased towards Cal, and UCLA is just ehhh.

I would pick UCLA for undergrad; save Berkeley for grad.

Are you joking? Do you know how hard it is to get into Berkeley for grad school? I'm not saying it's impossible, but it's not the type of thing you just write off like "Oh, I'll just go there for grad school."

I'd say both schools have similar student bodies, but Berkeley is generally seen as "the better school," so I'd go with them.
