My dream school gave me a 68,000 dollar scholarship, but my second choice gave me only 48,000. This school would be a better choice for me overall, due to it's proximity to my family, etc. I was invited to the Honors program at my 2nd choice, invited to live in their scholar/leader dorms, etc. Is it worth it to ask them to either reevaluate my merit award or to match the one from my number 1 choice? How often is this successful?

not all schools match aid so before you do anything i suggest you contact the school that gave you 48 k and see if they match aid.

Go to the school that gave you the 68k as it is highly unlikely that the second school is going to up your award by 20k (especially if they do not meet 100% demonstrated need).

Your aid amount may be immaterial. How much, for each school, are you being asked to pay each year? If school 2 has a lower COA, you may be coming out ahead even with a lower award.

And what school costs upward of 68K a year?

^ I would imagine that was over 4 years.
