I got an 80 on my first midterm in math 1B with Reshetikhin. The average was about a 77. I slacked off wayyy too much and got a 32...on my last midterm. The average for this midterm was 66.75, the median 69, and the standard deviation 18.37. I've been doing great on our quizzes.

* 25% for 12 quizzes (held in discussion sessions on Tuesdays) based rather closely on the h/w problem sets.
* 20% for each of two midterms (2/12 and 3/17, during normal class hours in the lecture room 2050 LSB).
* 35% for the final exam (5/11, 3-6pm).

Should I take this class pass/no pass? given...I literally just failed my midterm? I'm pre-haas and I don't want it to affect my GPA. I doubt I can get an A...

talk to him, maybe make a deal with him or something lol.

my sister was getting a C in one of her MCB classes at UCLA a few years back. she talked to her professor, who told her that if she got a 100% on the Final he would give her an A in the class. she got the 100% and the A. :)

This is a weeder class, it’s expected that you might not do as well as you expected. People who studied also did poorly…I would say make it p/np if you are seriously thinking about going for haas, but for other majors I think you have to take it for a letter grade. Consider what is important to you and what you really want to do.

Btw, how did you find the scores? I’ve looked everywhere but there isn’t a score/assignment slot on bspace…

In past spring semesters, it has been known to have been that high. Might not be as bad now, but I do know it was pretty ridiculous in the past. Math 1B makes other weeders look like minor contrivances.

okay. im a senior in high school and have taken 14 colleges classes including calculus 2 and i got a B- in that class. i think this class sounds like its the same but the grading style almost matches mine. im trying to decide whether to go to UCB or not and it seems like its hard for everyone. does this affect grad school admissions or do they know its hard and grades are gonna be relatively lower than say…northwestern, whose grades are inflated?

I am an engineering major, and anyone know if it is okay for engineering student to take math 1b as p/np? I might get a B in the class…and i don’t want my gpa to go down that much.

I can take it during college for summer credit in community college,but i heard that you must take all technical course for a letter grade.

In my case, is it okay to take just math1b in community college and get p for math at berkeley? anyone know?

i plan on taking math 1b during the summer, i got a 5 on calc AB, but im still scared…is it even remotely possible for me to do well in that class?

^ ok if you got a 5 on calc BC, DO NOT TAKE MATH 1B. the material is the same, the tests are killer.

if you got a 5 on calc bc, you know enough to go to higher math classes like 53 and 54. just because you don’t think you remember everything from bc does not mean you should take math 1b.
