Help Me? Big Mistake with a DBQ?

Hey everyone,

Yesterday I took an AP exam and I wrote a 4 page DBQ.

What I did is I had one paragraph for one group, and then one paragraph for the two other groups which I just put under the same category (my thesis goes like: THe ______________________________ was caused by ______ and __, which was separated by _ and ____)

So 4 paragraphs in total- intro, body 1, body 2, conclusion...

THe transition in the second paragraph is nice and clear but still the same paragraph.. I was wondering if I could still get that basic core point for 3 distinct groups? God I worked really hard and I think a 5/9 would waste it.... Please put your thoughts into this?

It’s not that big of a mistake. In AP Euro my teacher really talked about grouping a lot, but in AP US History, my teacher never really said it was too important for the format (DBQs are done a bit differently depending on the AP History class), and my AP US teacher is the coordinator for social studies at my school. By the way, a 5/9 on the DBQ should still get you a 5 on the AP exam if everything else was decent.

… AP Euro…

but still thanks

I always thought that DBQs and all the other history FRQs are graded hollistically, meaning that even if you’re missing one thing (unless it’s the thesis), your essay grade will not be drastically affected. And even if you get a 5/9, you really don’t have to worry about it because your chances of getting a 5 is still relatively high.

It doesn’t have to be in 3 separate paragraphs. As long as the reader can tell which documents are in which group, you’ll be fine. That’s what my teacher tells me, anyway. He was wrong about some stuff he told us, though. (He was way off about how MC is graded) I think I can trust him on this, though, since he’s one of the readers.

alrite, thanks a lot guys…

What did you think of the exam (for those who took it)
