I'd like to construct a sort of a broad list of potential colleges and universities that i can narrow down when it comes time.

I am looking for colleges that have excellent financial aid and scholarship resources available, as that is one of my utmost must haves because there is absolutely no way my family can afford a lot of higher education. second, i would prefer to be in an urban environment but i am not one for parties or an overtly social atmosphere at all. I like to be challenged but i do worse when i constantly have to deal with long term competition and stress.
I am As and Bs student mostly, with some mess ups during freshman year but the lowest I've ever gotten was C. I take advanced and honors classes and i plan on completeing at least 2 AP courses by graduation.
I am not looking for prestige bit rather a well respected university with a nice atmosphere that allows students to thrive in their best.
Diversity is also a highly important factor. I would rather the school have many minorities, backgrounds, and international students.
I must be able to possibly double major. And i have passions for the arts (which is what i go to school for now) psychology, social sciences, i aim to be fluent in a couple languages, film and communications among others that can be useful for deciding potential majors.

Also, i am very interested in programs that offer study abroad.

Any input?

Sorry but we seriously don’t know anything about you if you don’t post stats like the exact GPA of each grade, and your SAT etc.

If ur SAT is great and your GPA has upward trend
I suggest Boston University? Easy to get accepted and they are generous with financial aid and they got really nice connections worldwide
University of Washington is also pretty good for scholarship despite not so great GPA if you got decent SAT score

Idk…dude, be more clear with ur stats xD

OFC best OPTION for average will be ur state college ^^

Well, i was looking for a more general list just to see what’s out there for now. Nothing too specific. I’m still kind of early in my college search.
My GPA so far is a 3.6 for this year and i plan on keeping it that way if not higher.
I will be taking the ACT and I’m preparing and aiming for a score in the high 20s to 30s.

I have looked into both UW and BU ^__^

McGill doesn’t look at grade 9 grades for admission, only grade 10, 11 and 12 so that could help. It also has student diversity in spades, about 20% of the school is international and an additional 25% are from Canadian provinces outside of Quebec. It also has a pretty good level of prestige and international recognition, especially in the North East US. Arts is also generally one of the easier faculties to get into, so that is in your favor.

For McGill you’ll need 3 AP scores of 5 though (or 3X 750 SAT subjects) and not sure they meet 100% need for Americans.

Since you have great financial need, you must look at colleges that meet 100% need. The more selective colleges also tend to be the most generous, some of them actually offer financial aid packages without loans.
[Colleges That Claim to Meet Full Financial Need - US News and World Report](http://www.usnews.com/education/best-colleges/paying-for-college/articles/2013/09/18/colleges-that-claim-to-meet-full-financial-need-2014)

What’s instate for you?

Avoid OOS public universities since they don’t cover your financial need - they may admit you, but how you pay out of state fees isn’t their problem.

Go online and “join the mailing list”/“request information” to get free brochures about: Grinnell, Earlham, Macalester, St Olaf, Colby, Connecticut, Trinity, Occidental. Those schools are matches or low reaches for your stats as we know them.
If you’re first gen, throw in Hamilton.
