Chance me for Taft!

-16 y/o applying for 11th grade
-Female
-Asian decent (not from china)
-77% SSAT (2154) because I scored badly for verbal (52%) but I’ve been scoring high Bs/As for English and Literature in school.
-English is my first language and Chinese my second. I also speak a dialect.
-Applying as an international student from an exotic but first world country.
-Grades, mostly Bs and Cs but my school is competitive in nature. (One of the top 10 schools in my country)
-Spent last 4 years in a youth military cadet corps (in my home country), risen to a high rank, co-incharge of a platoon
-Represented school and the corps in a nationwide performance for an opening ceremony
-Done over 6/7 years of community service (twice every month since 2009) with my family
-Played the piano for 10+ years now (attained grade 8 when I was 12 y/o)
-Used to be competitive but now a recreational swimmer
-Average recommendations from teachers but strong recommendation from my math teacher (which is my weakest subject)
-Certified First Aider (if it actually helps haha)
-Awarded the National Youth Achievement Award-Silver Medal (highest attainable for my age)
-Low income family, will definitely require a substantial amount of financial aid
-Very passionate about going to Taft

I am applying for Taft and Taft only. The interview went pretty ok… I hope. And my essays are doing quite well. Can someone help chance me for Taft! Thank you so much :slight_smile:

I also got the 77th percentile in SSAT (2154) and I’m applying for choate… I think if you do your interviews well enough with great essays, you might get in :slight_smile:

What country are you from? This can impact your chances especially since you are ORM.

The standards for Asian applicants are higher, so a 77th percentile SSAT may be a burden. If you can show that you have very strong grades and extracurriculars, you could have a shot at many schools.
