Help me choose a college!!

It's so late and I have to choose between two universities as a transfer student. I won't give the names but will adequately describe my situation. Please tell me where I should go based on what I say!!! And asap please!

College A

This college is very prestigious, top 25 university. It has a beautiful campus, is about an hour away from home and lots of school spirit and great sports. It also has a huge and amazing alumni network. I also have a lots of friends here. Lots of things to do on campus and overall I think I will be happy.

However, I was not accepted to my first choice major here but my second. The second choice major is not exactly what I wanted to study, but its still considered an excellent school within the university although I personally don't have a lot of interest in the curriculum; maybe I'll feel as if I'm wasting my time?? There are also not many clubs and organizations strictly related to what I want to do, although I think the alumni network makes up for it. Additionally, the area outside campus is not very safe and I have to live with a couple roommates, which is not ideal. Also I may have to take an extra class or summer class to graduate on time (more money!!)

College B

This college is less prestigious although still pretty good. It is almost a top 50 university. It on the other side of the country, almost a 6 hour flight. My major here is exactly what I want to study and I love the curriculum. For my major they are considered excellent. They have organizations and clubs that give hands on experience and are great resources. It is an urban campus and has both pluses and minuses to it but I think I can adjust in time, although I'll miss the picturesque campus of College A. Overall, great faculty, internship and study abroad opportunities, and many things to do in the city. I also have a single room which is nice.

However, it is very far from home and it won't be possible to come home for Thanksgiving and maybe even spring break. It gets extremely cold, which is something I'm not used to at all. Additionally, the alumni network is not as established and well regarded as College A's, although I think their internship program and other resources makes up for that. Also, there is less school spirit and I don't have many friends here. The building is fairly older.

Overall the cost is quite similar and I got almost the same amount of money from them. I may have to pay extra tuition for an extra class or two at College A or pay for airfare and cold weather clothing for College B.

I am completely at a loss and have to decide by today or max by tomorrow. PLEASE HELP.

Go for your preferred major. It is only for 2 years or so and you can put up with a less than ideal social life for that time. If you are not enthusiastic about the major, you won’t do as well and that would be a shame.

sounds like USC vs BU. It really does depend on where you want to work in the future as USC does have more connections on the west coast and BU has the other side. I would say USC as it is considered a better school and switching majors should be easy within USC unless some transfer agreement prevent you not to.

I would say both sound like wonderful options. You have to decide which is more important to you. You seem to have an emotional attachment to School A, while at School B you understand you’re getting more of what you want in terms of academics. Ultimately, the choice is yours; however, I would attend School A. If you love it, go for it!

Go to USC if you are able to switch majors later, if not go to Boston University. I think your major should be your biggest deciding factor if financial aid is equal between the schools.

Thanks for the feedback. I won’t be able to switch majors as a junior transfer. Any more opinions will be helpful! And yes, its USC vs BU ;)
