I am trying to choose between Ithaca College, University at Albany, SUNY Oswego and UCONN. I have a 3.5 gpa. And I am looking for a school that has a lot of opportunities, school spirit, good food and dorms, and great opportunities for internships and networking. I am a NY state resident and attend a dual enrollment program which means that I attended a community college where I have earned credits and would like to transfer them to the college that I choose. I am interested in studying Psyc with a minor in neuroscience or Philosophy. Feel free to ask any more questions to be able to help me.
How much money will each cost you? If you are in NY then Albany and Oswego are probably a lot cheaper than Uconn.
Albany would be about 13,000 a year as well as Oswego. Ithaca would be 15,000 a year and UConn is the 45,000 a year. I also got accepted to SUNY New Paltz. I forgot to mention that, sorry.
How far are these schools from you? And do you want to be in a rural area or near a city? SUNY NP has daily buses to NYC several times a day, and most classes don’t meet on Wednesday’s.
I’d pick Ithaca if they all cost the same though.
I’m from the city. Oswego would be 6 hours, Ithaca 4 hours, Albany 2-3 hours as well as UCONN. When taking out loans SUNY schools are about 5,000 and Ithaca is ~8,000. What is stopping me from making a decision are the selection of majors these schools have. When it came to Ithaca, the options were a little more limited. They do have great Academmia which is why I’m a little conflicted.
You can only borrow $5,500 for your first year with federal loans. Are the extra loans at Ithaca from the college itself? Or are they parent loans that your parents would need to take out?
What ave each of these places told you about transferring your CC credits? Do you have enough of those to shorten your time to graduation or to allow for a double major anywhere?
What major are you thinking of? If it isn’t offered at Ithaca, or if Ithaca doesn’t offer as many choices, then that probably isn’t the place for you.
