Hey so I'm a freshman in college and I'm really confused about my major...I want a major that will give me choices after college just in case I don't go the way I'm intending to...I want to be a dentist and am taking all the necessary science classes, but I want my major to be different in case I change my mind...the problem is I can't decide between these:

Philosophy, English, Political Science, and History

All of these are interesting to me and I think I'd do well in all of them (some better than others), but I want there to be a major that can give me other great options (law school, etc.) but also be somewhat easy so that I have enough time to do well in my science classes. Can anyone help?

I'd stay away from Philosophy. Unless you are a VERY Critical Thinker, Philosophy can be very difficult to understand (I'm taking a Philosophy course at my school that we all say ((including the teacher)) should qualify as an AP course because it's SO DIFFICULT) and you won't have many job choices without lots and lots of grad school.

English would be good, because you can apply it to a lot of things and go to a lot of unrelated grad school.

PoliSci is hard to really apply unless you want to go into politics.

History, again, is hard to apply.

You might look into Psychology (I'm going to major in it next fall ^_^)...it's very easy to apply to different fields, although to really get a good-paying job you do need some grad school. HIH!

Otherwise, they'll all do decently well for law school. A good law school major is one that requires you to read and critically analyze alot of text while allowing for a high GPA while also keeping you away from the stigma of a slacker.
